It’s always an exciting day to get my first look at the advance copies of a new book. Of course, I secretly know they’re still full of typos… but still, it finally feels like the book is almost here. My new one, Born To Fly, tells the story of the 1929 Women’s Air Derby, the first-ever women’s cross-country airplane race – a nine-day, 2,800-mile contest full of adventure, controversy, and, yes, crashes.
